Modern Kitchen — Calabasas

Calabasas, CA · Completed 2024 · 9 weeks

Project Overview

A complete teardown and rebuild of a dated 1990s kitchen in Calabasas, transformed into a bright, open culinary space designed for daily cooking and family entertaining. The homeowners wanted a kitchen that felt custom — not catalog — with a layout that could handle everything from weeknight dinners to weekend hosting.

Remodeling Goals

  • Open the kitchen to the dining and living areas by removing a load-bearing wall
  • Maximize natural light from the rear yard with enlarged window openings
  • Create durable, family-friendly surfaces with a timeless aesthetic
  • Integrate high-end appliances without sacrificing storage

Work Completed

  • Removed load-bearing wall with new structural beam and header
  • Custom shaker cabinetry with soft-close hardware throughout
  • Quartz waterfall island and full-height backsplash in matching veining
  • Upgraded electrical, plumbing, and recessed lighting plan
  • Enlarged rear window opening and installed new casement windows
  • Installed 48" professional-grade dual-fuel range with custom hood

Materials & Finishes

Challenges Solved

Removing the original wall required engineered structural support and coordinated permitting with the city of Calabasas. Our team handled every aspect of the permit process, structural engineering coordination, and inspection scheduling — keeping the project on timeline despite a 3-week permit review window. An unexpected plumbing stack buried inside the wall required rerouting, which we resolved without adding cost to the client by catching it during the demolition walkthrough.
